As a Time To Talk sponsor, your company or brand will be able to connect with millions of families through extensive national publicity and promotion opportunities that encourage frequent, ongoing conversations between parents and their teens and tweens. There are 33 million parents and caregivers with kids ages 8-17. Every day, 10,000 kids turn 13. And, 13 ½ is the average age of first drug use.
Why set time aside for this?
Teens say drugs, tobacco or alcohol is the most important problem facing teenagers in the country today and half of adults say they worry “a great deal” about drug use.
And, from the Partnership’s Attitude Tracking Study (PATS), now in its 20th year, we know that kids who learn about the risks of drugs and alcohol from their parents are up to 50% less likely to use. Yet, only one-third of teens say they learn a lot about drugs from their parents. PATS is the largest drug-related attitudinal tracking study in the country that monitors parent and teen attitudes about illicit drugs.
Encouraging ongoing communication within America’s families can make a meaningful difference for parents, their kids and our communities.
